DOUBLE FLUTE
Stereo magic
The Double flute has a special place in our collection. The chambers are tuned slightly apart, allowing the sound to be experienced from an unknown, mesmerizing place.
The Double flute can be played in a number of ways: One way is to play the same melody with both hands (unisolo). Another way is to play a drone on one side and a melody on the other side. It is even possible to play two different melodies at the same time.
We make our double flutes in 3 different tunings:
The Melodic Double has the same fingering as our melodic Huaca. Every side has an octave + 1 with only 5 holes, using a special cross fingering system. It takes some effort to learn this system, but the possibilities are incredible. Unisolo or polyphonic, everything is possible.
The Anasazi tuning is an open system in a combination of minor and major scale. The first hole normally is played open and is used to create a subtone under the tonic. It’s an easy system to play and provides a mysterious sound.
